Interior Design Consultation

Layzell & Wells offers one-to-one design consultations — a flexible service designed for clients seeking professional guidance on smaller projects or specific design challenges.

Whether you are refining the layout of a room, selecting finishes and materials, or searching for the right pieces to complete a space, these consultations provide tailored advice grounded in architectural understanding and practical design experience.

The sessions are designed to give clients clear direction and confidence, offering expert insight that can be applied at a pace and scale that suits both the project and the budget.

  • To make the most of your session, we recommend gathering any inspiration, plans, photographs, or questions in advance. Sharing these materials helps us understand your vision and allows us to offer considered guidance on the design, layout, and details that will shape your project.

Whether you are planning a full renovation, reworking a single room, or simply exploring ideas for your home, a little preparation helps ensure the consultation is focused, productive, and tailored to your needs.

Preparing a short list of topics or specific questions can also be helpful. If possible, have photographs of your space or any existing plans ready to share. Alternatively, the consultation can be a more open conversation about your project, offering insight into the process and the key considerations involved.

We aim to keep the discussion flexible and informative, ensuring you leave the session feeling clearer and more confident about the next steps.

  • A consultation with Layzell & Wells can address a wide range of design and renovation topics, tailored to your project. Areas we commonly discuss include:
    - Space planning and layouts – advice on floor plans, room flow, and how spaces function

    - Furniture layouts and lighting placement based on plans shared during the consultation

    - Lighting design – including fixture selection, layout, circuits, and switching

    - Furniture, decorative pieces, and styling to bring cohesion and character to a space

    - Colour palettes, fabrics, and window treatments suited to your style and property

    - Hard finishes – guidance on flooring, tiles, stone, panelling, and specialist wall finishes

    - Sanitaryware and bathroom fittings, including suitable brands and applications

    - Joinery design, such as wardrobes, dressing rooms, libraries, and boot rooms

    - Kitchen design – layout ideas, functionality, and appliance considerations

    - Art selection and advice on sourcing artwork and decorative pieces

    - Vintage and antique sourcing, including what to look for and consider when buying

    - Suppliers, makers, and brands worth exploring for your project

    - Exterior spaces, including garden layouts and outdoor living areas

    - Budget considerations and prioritising design decisions

    - General renovation guidance, including what to expect and key considerations during a project
  • Where helpful, relevant supplier websites may be shared during the session. Simple hand sketches may also be created and shared following the consultation, to help illustrate ideas, layouts, or possible design solutions.

The consultation is intended as an advisory session rather than a full design service. If you require detailed drawings, specifications, or further design development, this can be discussed, and options for a more comprehensive scope of services can be explored.
