Ethos
Layzell & Wells is founded on the belief that exceptional spaces are shaped by a quiet precision — where materiality, light, and spatial syntax are considered with equal intent. Our work is defined by a rigorous attention to detail and a deep understanding of how architecture and interiors coexist seamlessly.
Across London, the Channel Islands, and Europe, we approach each project as a dialogue between context, craft, and client. We are guided by the inherent qualities of materials, the movement of natural light, and the rhythm of space—composing environments that feel both intuitive and enduring.
We value restraint as much as expression. Every line, junction, and surface is resolved with care, ensuring that beauty is not only seen, but felt. The result is a body of work that is timeless, quietly confident, and deeply attuned to the way people live.
From early concepts through to the final layers of furnishing and styling, Layzell & Wells works closely with clients to translate ideas into cohesive, carefully considered spaces. Each project is approached collaboratively, ensuring clients feel supported, informed and inspired throughout the journey from vision to completion.

Ethos
Layzell & Wells approaches architecture as a dialogue between context and brief. By balancing scale, proportion, and materiality, we create spaces defined by clarity of form, considered proportions, and a quiet attention to light and detail. We follow the RIBA plan of works from stages 0 to 6 – from concept through to completion. This includes:
Feasibility & Concept Design
We test ideas and work up schemes to optimise your property in terms of light, space and flow whilst paying careful consideration to context as well as local and national planning policies.
Planning & Approvals
Preparation and coordination of planning applications, including pre-app advice, coordination with local authorities and other consultants. We navigate the approvals process with a pragmatic, informed approach.
Developed & Technical Design
Detailed design and construction information, coordinated across structure, services, and specialist consultants to ensure buildability, quality, and compliance.
Construction & Site Support
Ongoing involvement during construction to safeguard design intent, manage queries, and support a smooth delivery on site.
Each home we design is shaped by an understanding of how spaces are used and experienced over time. We consider layout, proportion, light, and materiality together, creating interiors that feel cohesive, tactile, and quietly resolved.
Concept & Spatial Narrative
Each project begins with a careful reading of space, light, and use. We explore spatial flow, proportion, and atmosphere to establish a clear interior narrative—one that feels intuitive, balanced, and strongly connected to the architecture.
Materiality & Sensory Palette
Our approach to materials is both tactile and considered. We compose palettes that respond to light and context—layering texture, tone, and finish to create interiors that are quiet and tactile.
Detailed Interior Resolution
From first principles to final junctions, every element is resolved with precision. We develop the interior in its entirety—joinery, surfaces, lighting, and fittings.
Bespoke Elements & FF&E
Design and specification of custom furniture, lighting, and soft furnishings alongside carefully sourced pieces. We curate each layer to create interiors that feel both refined and personal.
Procurement & Installation
Coordination of purchasing, logistics, and installation. We oversee delivery through to completion, ensuring that each element is delivered seamlessly with an uncompromising attention to detail. We source and procure furniture, lighting and soft finishes that complement our architecture and interior design. Attention is given to material quality, detail, and provenance, delivering interiors that feel considered, complete, and refined.
We manage selection, specification, and sourcing, overseeing procurement and installation to ensure consistency, craftsmanship, and a seamless transition from concept to completion. We work with artisans and makers to deliver bespoke designed pieces. Each piece is shaped by proportion, material honesty, and function with an emphasis on clarity of form, craftsmanship, and longevity.
We design gardens that are calm, structured, and have a sense of place – extending the architecture into the landscape.
Each garden is shaped by context, proportion, materiality, and planting, forming a seamless relationship between interior, architecture, and outdoors. Gardens that feel grounded, purposeful, and connected to the buildings they surround.
Concept & Setting
An initial concept is developed that looks at site, orientation, and architecture to establish a clear and grounded landscape concept.
Spatial Composition
Detailed layouts look at creating sequences of space, defined by movement, threshold, and rhythm.
Planting & Materiality
Balanced palettes of planting and hard materials, composed with sensitivity to light, texture, and seasonality.

Laura Layzell
DIRECTOR
Laura is a design director whose work bridges fashion, interiors, and furniture design to create refined, layered residential spaces. Her approach is rooted in materiality, proportion, and craftsmanship, with a strong sensitivity to texture, colour, and detail.
She graduated with First Class Honours from the London College of Fashion and began her career in luxury fashion, holding managerial roles at Mulberry and Jimmy Choo in London. This experience shaped her rigorous design approach and appreciation for fine materials and craftsmanship.
Since transitioning into interiors, Laura has worked across all aspects of high-end residential design, from concept development and fabric schemes to bespoke furniture and joinery. She joined the studio in 2018 and works closely with the architectural team to deliver cohesive interiors from concept through to completion.
